Duke Energy has proposed residential rate increases. They will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, March 12 at 6 p.m., Spartanburg County Council Chambers at the Spartanburg County Administration Building at 366 N. Church St., Spartanburg.
The company has filed a proposal with the state of South Carolina seeking a rate increase for customers beginning in June 2019. A typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh would see an increase of about $15.57 per month in their bill. The average rate increase for residential customers on their total bill would be about 12 percent.
The proposal also includes an increase in the company’s Residential Basic Facilities Charge, from $8.29 per month to $28 per month, effective June 1, 2019.
The South Carolina Public Service Commission will have to approve any rate changes before they take effect.
